"Spiritual Direction is, in reality,

nothing more than a way

of leading us to see and obey

the real Director - the Holy Spirit-

hidden in the depths of our soul."

Spiritual Director

What is Spirtual Direction?

While Spiritual Direction may not be familiar to some Christians, it has its roots in the early church as an ancient practice of "Holy Listening". At the heart of this practice is the deep conviction that God is always present as the Initiator of our faith journey, and a recognition that He is deeply involved and moving in every circumstance of our lives.

The word “direction” can be a bit misleading. The true Spiritual Director is always the Holy Spirit. A Spiritual Director offers a deliberate presence–holding space as a companion and guide by paying attention to the movements of the Holy Spirit.

Practicing Awareness of God through exploration of deeper questions, practices of silence,  and contemplative exercises are among the helpful resources that might be offered in this safe space. In attending to God’s guidance, insight, interpretation, prayer, or spiritual practices may be offered as a way to deepen the connection to God’s ongoing work.

When and Where?

It is recommended that Spiritual Direction sessions take place about once a month: leaving room between sessions for the Holy Spirit to continue the process as He illuminates and uncovers His deeper work.

Although the recommendation is for monthly sessions, I recognize that times of transition or crisis may require a more frequent and sustained season of Spiritual Direction.

At this time, my practice of Spiritual Direction is being offered virtually.

A secure link for sessions will be sent out as a reminder sometime before the meeting.

...How much?

My standard fee is $50 for a one hour session. Because I see Spiritual Direction as a sacred ministry I don’t want finances to be a hindrance. We can discuss an adjustment to the fee if it would otherwise present a barrier to your participation.

Please contact me if you would like to schedule a meeting. There is no cost for this initial consultation and it can be a valuable time for questions and mutual discernment as we take some time to get to know one another.
